Admission Requirements for the DPT Program

Applicants are required to meet the following admission criteria:

1. Completion of our online application on the PTCAS website by the October 1st deadline: https://ptcasdirectory.apta.org/39/List-of-PTCAS-Programs?qst=

Applicants who would like to be considered for Priority Status should submit all application materials by September 1st.

2. Applicants must have completed a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution by the end of the spring semester prior to admission. The degree of difficulty of the undergraduate coursework is considered when making admissions decisions.

The following prerequisite courses must be completed:

Two semesters of Anatomy and Physiology for science majors, with laboratories (within the past 10 years). (BIO 150 and BIO 160 at CSI)
Two semesters of Physics for science majors, with laboratories (PHY 116 and 156 at CSI)
Two semesters of Chemistry for science majors, with laboratories (CHM 141/121 and CHM 142/127 at CSI)
Two semesters of Psychology
One semester of Mathematics (pre-calculus or college algebra and trigonometry) (MTH 123 or MTH 130 at CSI)
One semester of Statistics (we recommend a course that includes computer applications), Statistics in Psychology is acceptable (BIO 272 or MTH 214 at CSI)
One semester of English composition (e.g., expository writing) (ENG 111 at CSI)
All prerequisite requirements must be met by the end of the Spring semester immediately preceding the start date of the program.

4. Minimum 3.0 GPA
Note: While a 3.0 undergraduate GPA is the minimum to apply to the DPT program, due to the competitiveness of the program, this does not assure admission to the program.

5. Completion of the GRE with scores sent by October 1st

6. For applicants who have not studied in English-speaking countries, a score of at least 550 (paper), 213 (computer), or 79-80 (Internet) on the TOEFL examination. (Taken within the past year)

7. The CSI DPT Program requires completion of observation hours under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist for acceptance into our program. Hours must be completed by the October 1st deadline. The CSI DPT program requires the following for observation hours completion:

A 100-hour requirement applies when hours are completed in two separate locations. Ideally, 50 hours should be in an inpatient setting (hospital or skilled nursing facility) and 50 hours in an outpatient setting. We recognize that inpatient hours can be difficult to obtain, so we will accept hours completed in other settings as long as they are in two different locations (e.g., two separate outpatient sites).
OR
200 hours is required if all hours are completed only at one location.

8. Two letters of recommendation (a list of acceptable references is on the PTCAS website).
