Description
This course analyzes multiple themes and issues across the human experience from the lens of the social studies, the arts, and the language arts. Candidates will use social studies and the arts in conjunction with folktales, legends, myths, non-fiction, memoir, fiction, and journalism to explore such global, political, cultural, and historic issues such as social justice, immigration, or equality. The course addresses curriculum development, resources and materials, management, standards, assessment, and the educational application of technology. Fieldwork assignments provide opportunities to plan instruction, enhance communication skills in the disciplines, and connect theory to practice. A fieldwork component of 15 hours of fieldwork are required.
