Description
4 hours; 4 credits. Students who have completed HST 701 and at least two other 700-level courses may enroll in the Preparation of Thesis Proposal Seminar. In the seminar, students will develop their topic, begin research, collect bibliography, and receive instruction in research methodology and historical writing. Students will write a historiographical essay, reviewing the broader historical literature of their subject and relating their own approach to the field. Before completion of the seminar, students, in consultation with faculty and the program coordinator, will be assigned a thesis director and a second reader. NOTE: This course will be graded as P/F.Prerequisite: HST 701 and at least two other 700-level courses.
