The history and theory of alternative visions expressed in the cinema, single-channel video, and digital domains. A range of historical material and theoretical issues is considered, from the visual and counter-narrative experiments of avant-garde film to video's deployment as both a fine-art medium and critical outlet. Prerequisite: Matriculation in the graduate Cinema and Media Studies program or permission of instructor.
