Catalog Description: A survey of the fundamental concepts and activities of Information Technology (IT) as applied to health care. Topics include electronic health records, knowledge-based systems in health care, telehealth, clinical decision support, consumer health informatics, e-Health, and the personal health record. Students will learn the enabling technologies for innovative health care solutions, methods of information management, strategies of health care information system implementation, governance models, and legal frameworks, focusing on the impact of IT on patient health, clinical decision making and public health policy.
